Call if you would rather talk. Write if you would rather think it through first. Either way a person answers.
The number is 801-515-5453. It rings Monday through Friday during business hours and takes a message the rest of the time, and messages left overnight get returned in the morning rather than three days later.
Most people who call are not in a crisis. They have been managing for a while and something small has tipped — a winter where the driveway stopped being manageable, a spouse who now needs watching at night, a daughter in another state who has started asking questions. You do not need a diagnosis or a plan to call. You need about ten minutes to describe the week as it actually is.
Short. We ask what days and times are hardest, who is in the house, what you have already tried, and how far you want this to go. We do not ask for medical records, insurance details or a Social Security number, and nobody should ever ask you for those over the phone on a first call — from us or anyone else.
At the end of it you get a straight answer about whether in-home help fits. Sometimes it does not. If what you actually need is a handyman for the steps, a ride service twice a week, or a conversation with your doctor, we will tell you that and you will have lost nothing but the call.
That is common and it is welcome. One thing we ask for, though: let us speak with the person the care is for before anything gets scheduled. Help that was arranged over someone's head tends not to last the month, and the people who stay independent longest are the ones who chose the arrangement themselves.
Salt Lake, Davis, Weber and Utah counties — from Ogden and Layton down through the Salt Lake Valley to Provo, Orem and American Fork. If you are outside that line, call anyway; we can usually point you to someone closer.
SeniorCare 801 is a referral service, not a licensed home health agency, and the help we arrange is non-medical. No wound care, no injections, no medication administration, no nursing. We also do not give medical advice. If what you are describing is medical, say so on the call and we will tell you plainly that you are in the wrong place — and roughly who the right place is.
If this is an emergency, hang up and call 911.
Someone calls you back, usually the same day and almost always within one business day. The first call is a conversation, not an assessment. We ask what the week actually looks like and what is getting hard, then tell you whether this is something in-home help solves.
No. Plenty of people call once, hear what is involved, and do nothing for six months. That is a reasonable way to handle it. Nobody will keep calling you.
Yes, and many do. We will ask to speak with you as well before anything is arranged, because the schedule has to work for the person living with it.
No. The call costs nothing and there is no obligation. SeniorCare 801 is a referral service, so we are not selling you our own hours.
